READING
Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.
~ Emilie Buchwald ~
Reading is more than decoding the words on the page. It is about
- Developing a love of reading
- Being invited into new worlds, ideas and information
- Learning to observe, question, reflect and engage with possibilities and problems
- Exploring why people read
- Exploring what different sorts of things we can read
- Understanding that there are conventions to the way we read
- Understand that authors and illustrators are sharing information and perspectives with the reader
